Enhanced Locational Information (ELI)

In June 2024, AEMO published the first Enhanced Locational Information (ELI) report in response to the ESB’s review into transmission access reform.

The 2025 ELI Report builds on that inaugural publication by providing improvements and additional information following stakeholder consultation and engagement.

The 2025 ELI Report provides a collection of metrics and indicators that represent important locational characteristics of the power system, and which may be relevant to inform better regulatory, generator investment, or transmission augmentation decisions.

In response to stakeholder feedback on the 2024 ELI Report, AEMO has developed and implemented new methodologies to assess congestion and hosting capacity information over several timeframes. The 2025 ELI Report includes an initial assessment of these factors on a consistent, NEM-wide basis.

AEMO is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, 23 July 10:00 – 11:00 AM AEST to provide an overview of key elements of the 2025 ELI Report, followed by a Q&A session. Registration for the webinar is available below:
