AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE
The MTPASA result published on 05 December 2017 shows Low Reserve Conditions (LRC) in South Australia and Victoria for summer 2017-18 and 2018-19. Please note that MTPASA informs the market of potential LRC's to allow the market to respond in the first instance, potentially avoiding the need for any market intervention or direction from AEMO. As such, the MTPASA forecast does not incorporate many of the actions taken by AEMO to improve reliability this summer.
This notice supersedes Market Notice 60073 published on 28 November 2017.
Background
As part of a broader process of implementing the reliability standard, AEMO runs the Medium Term Projected Assessment of System Adequacy (MTPASA) process weekly to forecast capacity reserve conditions over a two year period.
AEMO may apply probabilistic studies such as Energy Adequacy Assessment Projection (EAAP) to confirm the LRC findings of MTPASA before intervening in the market.
