Electricity reliability has significantly improved in NSW, with cooler weather easing demand.
Prior to this, heatwave conditions combined with the unavailability of major power stations reduced forecast electricity supply.
To address this, AEMO worked closely with the energy industry and the NSW Government to manage the situation.
Measures included requesting all available generation and transmission resources be deployed, and the procurement of additional reserves.
The NSW Government also implemented protocols to reduce electricity usage in government operations.
Looking ahead, AEMO notes that some reserve issues are currently being forecast in NSW for the week ahead, and will continue to monitor and work closely with generation and transmission to manage appropriately.
