ISP Methodology
Published every two years, AEMO’s Integrated System Plan (ISP) is a roadmap for the transition of the power system that underpins the National Electricity Market (NEM), presenting the plan for essential infrastructure that meets both consumer needs and government energy and emissions targets between now and 2050.
The ISP draws on a comprehensive set of inputs, including all relevant federal and state government policies for emissions reduction, and seeks the optimal mix of generation, storage and network infrastructure investment.
AEMO’s ISP Methodology lays out the integrated approach to energy market modelling, combined with relevant power system analysis, used to prepare the ISP. The current ISP Methodology is provided here:
The current ISP Methodology was updated in June 2025, to complete a four-yearly review requirement and to incorporate the Energy Ministers’ response to the review of the ISP.
