AEMO has released the Integrated System Plan toolkit (ISP toolkit). We consult with a wide range of stakeholders, including energy consumers and community advocates. The toolkit provides essential information about the ISP to help these groups understand it more and learn how they can contribute to its development.

What is the ISP?

Published every two years, the ISP is one of AEMO’s key planning documents. It outlines the mix of generation, storage and network investments required to meet both consumer needs and government energy and emissions targets between now and 2050.

Who is the ISP toolkit for?

We all have a stake in Australia’s energy future. Households, businesses, industry and governments rely on safe, secure and reliable energy every day.

The toolkit is for anybody who wants to learn more about the ISP and how it is developed.

What’s in the ISP toolkit?

The information pack is intended to build a common understanding about what the ISP is, how it contributes to Australia’s energy transition, and opportunities for stakeholders to get involved.

The toolkit includes sections on the changing energy landscape, what the transition means for consumers, how the ISP is developed and implemented, and how stakeholders can engage in the process. It also features a glossary of key terms and links to further information.

How to use the ISP toolkit

The toolkit has been designed to provide readers with simple information about the ISP. Read the document cover to cover or click on the links throughout for more details about the topics that interest you.

The ISP toolkit is available to view and download as a PDF on AEMO’s website. AEMO will continue working to make the ISP more accessible, ensuring that all stakeholder contributions help shape a 2026 ISP that is fit for purpose in the context of Australia’s energy transition.
