Load Shedding Direction in the NSW Region
AEMO has directed load shedding commencing at 1817 hrs 08/07/2024
in the NSW region
to maintain power system security.
The direction was issued under section 116 of the NEL, and was a clause 4.8.9 instruction under the NER.

Fast Frequency Response Market - Dispatch of R1 and L1 FCAS in the SA region during island conditions from 1 July 2024
From 1 July 2024 AEMO will dispatch R1 and L1 FCAS locally in the SA region during conditions of actual islanding of the SA region.
This follows the end of contracts for Fast Frequency Response (FFR) in the SA region.
The dispatch of R1 and L1 FCAS under these island conditions will not be capped.
These changes are only applicable for conditions of actual SA islanding from the rest of the NEM.
No other changes to the dispatch of R1 and L1 FCAS will be made on this date.

At 0845 hrs the Sydney West No.1 330 kV SVC tripped during switching for planned outage of Sydney West No.4 330/132 kV transformer.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

At 0901 hrs the Sydney West No.1 330 kV SVC tripped during switching for planned outage of Sydney West No.4 330/132 kV transformer.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

Planned outage of the Rowville - South Morang 500 kV line in the VIC region on 20/06/2024.
The Rowville - South Morang 500 kV line in the Victoria (VIC) region is planned to be out of service from 1400 hrs to 1630 hrs on 20/06/2024.
A credible contingency event during this planned outage could cause:
- A large reduction in generation in VIC; and/ or
- Restrict power transfer across the VIC - South Australia (SA) interconnector (Heywood interconnector).

There is an opportunity for testing QNI Minor for flows from Qld to NSW up to 1300 MW on Wednesday 19th June 2024 from 0700 to 1000hrs.
This test includes a trip and reclose of a line in northern NSW.
