Possible intervention to manage power system security in SA Region
The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0000 hrs 26/01/2024 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA.
AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

AEMO's weather service provider has issued forecast temperatures equal to or greater than the NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels for listed weather stations below.
QLD
Dalby Ap (37+ Deg C): 25th Jan, 26th Jan, 27th Jan
The NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels are:
Launceston Ti Tree Bend: 33 Deg C, Dalby Airport: 37 Deg C, for all other selected weather stations: 39 Deg C.
AEMO requests Market Participants to:
1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,
2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the QLD region for the following period:
From 1730 hrs to 2030 hrs 30/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1007 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 790 MW.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the QLD region for the following period:
From 1530 hrs to 2130 hrs 27/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1188 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 966 MW.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the QLD region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 113603 has been updated at 1400 hrs 23/01/2024 to the following:
From 1700 hrs to 2030 hrs 25/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1241 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 737 MW.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the NSW region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 113607 has been updated at 1400 hrs 23/01/2024 to the following:
From 2100 hrs to 2130 hrs 25/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1735 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1332 MW.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the NSW region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 113609 has been updated at 1400 hrs 23/01/2024 to the following:
From 1700 hrs to 2030 hrs 26/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1430 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1240 MW.

Update - Non-credible contingency event - QLD region - 23/01/2024

At 1122 hrs the H35 Strathmore No2 275 kV bus was returned to service.
The cause of this non-credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
Nebo - Strathmore 878 275 kV line to remain out of service.

AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.
