AEMO's weather service provider has issued forecast temperatures equal to or greater than the NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels for listed weather stations below.

Port Augusta Ap (39+ Deg C): 20th Feb, 21st Feb, 22nd Feb

VIC
Mildura Ap (39+ Deg C): 22nd Feb

The NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels are:

Launceston Ti Tree Bend: 33 Deg C, Dalby Airport: 37 Deg C, for all other selected weather stations: 39 Deg C.

AEMO requests Market Participants to:

1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,

2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.

Update to system strength constraints in North Queensland

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to market notice 110677

AEMO and Powerlink are continuing to investigate system strength requirements in North Queensland.
Due to commissioning of new feeder 8905 (H13 Ross - H39 Woree) 275kV line in Far North Queensland, the system normal system strength equations for low North Queensland demands and all Karreya stations out of service conditions have been revised.

A revision to the constraint equations will be implemented at 1400 hrs on Tuesday 20th February 2024.

The new system strength combinations have now published in a limits advice document on AEMO's website. This advice contains all the combinations for Queensland for system normal cases.

Below constraint equations in the Q-NIL set will be modified:

There is an opportunity for testing QNI Minor for flows from NSW to Qld up to 750 MW on Wednesday 15th February 2024 from 0730 to 1500hrs.

This test includes a trip and reclose of a line in northern NSW.

Refer to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 114647 and 114734
At 1602 hrs 13/02/2024 the Norwood - Scottsdale 110kV line and the Norwood - Scottsdale - Derby 110kV line tripped.
The cause of the trip was identified as due to Lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the Norwood - Scottsdale 110kV line and the Norwood - Scottsdale - Derby 110kV line to be vulnerable with a category of Vulnerability due to Lightning.
