The requirement for AEMO to issue a direction to maintain the power system in a secure operating state has ended. All associated directions are cancelled from 1907hrs on 23/06/2025.

Direction - NSW region 23/06/2025

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the NSW region.

The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.

AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided.

A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.

For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this was a clause 4.8.9 instruction under clause 4.8.9(a).

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR2 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the SA region for the following period:

From 0000 hrs to 0300 hrs 01/07/2025.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 230 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 205 MW.

AEMO is seeking a market response.

AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

1. From 0730 hrs to 1000 hrs 30/06/2025.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 230 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 136 MW.

2. From 1700 hrs to 2359 hrs 30/06/2025.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 230 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 109 MW.

AEMO is seeking a market response.

AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

Required actions: Remain synchronised and follow dispatch targets at 2300 hrs 21/06/2025

Circumstances necessitating the Direction: Voltage
Circumstances necessitating the Direction additional detail: The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA will be inadequate to maintain sufficient Voltage Control in SA. Intervention is required to maintain the power system in a secure operating state
Expected duration: 0400 hrs 23/06/2025.

AGL SA Generation Pty Limited does not incur any civil monetary liability for a relevant action taken in accordance with this direction unless the action is taken in bad faith.

Direction - SA region 21/06/2025

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a1)(1).

The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all trading intervals during the event to be intervention trading intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1605 hrs on 21/06/2025.

Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
