Update to Market Notice 53526

At 0851 hrs the South East - Tailem Bend No. 1 275 kV Line and the South East No. 1 275 kV SVC tripped.

At 0930 hrs the South East - Tailem Bend No. 1 275 kV Line was returned to service
At 1617 hrs the South East No. 1 275 kV SVC was returned to service

The following Constraint Sets were revoked at 1630 hrs.

The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.


The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

At 0950 hrs the Tuggerah 330kV circuit breakers 212A and 2M2A opened simultaneously.

At 1827 hrs the Tuggerah 330kV circuit breakers 212A and 2M2A were returned to service.

The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.

AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

There is no longer any lightning activity in the vicinity of the Farrell - John Butters 220 kV Line and the Farrell - Rosebery Tee Queenstown - Newton 110 kV Line.

AEMO has cancelled the reclassification of the simultaneous trip of those circuits as a credible contingency event at 2310 hrs.

Reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event: Farrell - John Butters 220 kV Line and the Farrell - Rosebery Tee Queenstown - Newton 110 kV Line in Tasmania due to Lightning.

Lightning is occurring near the Farrell - John Butters 220 kV Line and the Farrell - Rosebery Tee Queenstown - Newton 110 kV Line.

AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of those circuits to now be more likely.

Therefore AEMO has reclassified this as a credible contingency event from 2210 hrs 19/05/16 until further notice.
