Matter under consultation

The purpose of the Reliability Forecast Guidelines is to:

  • explain to liable entities and other interested parties how a reliability forecast is prepared, and the underlying procedures, information requirements and methodologies that govern its preparation and operation; and
  • describe how AEMO will implement the Forecasting Best Practice Guidelines produced by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) in preparing a reliability forecast.

AEMO must maintain its Reliability Forecast Guidelines in accordance with National Electricity Rules (NER) clause 4A.B.4. Apart from any minor or administrative changes, any revisions must be consulted on in accordance with the Rules consultation procedures set out in NER 8.9. The Australian Energy Regulator’s (AER’s) Forecasting Best Practice Guidelines (FBPG) require AEMO to consult on these guidelines at least once every four years.
