The Exemption Guideline sets out the process by which a Current MC may apply for an exemption from the requirement in clause 7.8.3(a) of the NER to ensure that any new or replacement metering installation at the connection point of a small customer is a type 4 metering installation that meets the minimum services specification, permitting the Current MC to install a type 4A metering installation.

AEMO has amended this guideline to increase the number of days in which an application for an exemption can be submitted.

The purposes for this extension of days are to :

  • allow the MC a reasonable period of time to attempt a range of methods to establish communications following the installation of a metering installation and;
  • to allow for error correction in the event a metering installation is registered incorrectly.

AEMO welcomes any comments on these changes within this guideline.

Please provide comments to meter@aemo.com.au by COB Friday 5 July 2019.

AEMO will review and consider comments and then publish a final version on Friday 12 July 2019.
